Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) Training and Certificate of Completion

ISO2024 offers outstanding content on diagnosing and treating osteoporosis, bone loss, and fractures. On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, BHOF will hold our Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) Basic and Advanced Workshops.

The Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) Training and Certificate of Completion explores the most important economic and health system challenges to the widespread implementation of the FLS model of care, covering topics such as the impact of healthcare reform; challenges and barriers in clinical care; and strategies for organizing, staffing and structuring a successful FLS program.

FLS Basic Workshop and FLS Certificate of Completion*
BHOF launched the Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) Model of Care Training and Certificate of Completion in New Orleans, April 23-26, 2014 at our Interdisciplinary Symposium on Osteoporosis (ISO). The FLS Training and Certificate of Completion explores the most important economic and health system challenges to the widespread implementation of the FLS model of care, covering topics such as the impact of healthcare reform; challenges and barriers in clinical care; and strategies for organizing, staffing and structuring a successful FLS program.

FLS Training is specifically developed to provide participants with information about the benefits of a FLS program and provides information and tools about how to build and sustain the FLS program. The FLS Training emphasizes the importance of appropriate patient assessment, treatment initiation, medical follow-up and care coordination for the post-fracture patient.

FLS Advanced Course Certificate of Completion**
BHOF launched the Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) Advanced Course Model of Care Training and Certificate of Completion in New Orleans, May 16, 2018 at our Interdisciplinary Symposium on Osteoporosis (ISO). This course explores more practice based clinical questions such as: comorbid conditions and osteoporosis; opioid use and osteoporosis; case-study and treatment selection case reviews; drug coverage issues and resources for providers and patients; and an interactive panel discussion.

FLS Advanced Course Training is specifically developed for those who have already completed the FLS Certificate. The FLS Advanced Course Training emphasizes the importance of patient tracking, medication approvals, use of registries, and growing your FLS program.

*FLS Certificate of Completion is awarded upon completion of FLS Basic Workshop and ISO2024

**Enrollment in FLS Advanced Workshop requires FLS Certificate of Completion being fulfilled prior to workshop date.

BoneFit™

BoneFit™ is an evidence-informed exercise training workshop, designed for exercise practitioners, to provide training on the most appropriate, safe, and effective methods to prescribe and progress exercise for people with osteoporosis. The program hosts two levels of trainings for exercise professionals – Basics trainings aimed at personal trainers and other exercise teachers and Clinical trainings aimed at physical therapists and clinicians that incorporate exercise recommendations into their practice.

BoneFit™ USA workshops entail five (5) online modules as pre-course work via the BHOF online LMS, attendance at the 1 day in-person live course, and completion of a final online quiz. The live training will consist of approximately six to eight hours of coursework in-person. Upon passing the quiz, each BoneFit™ participant will receive a certificate of completion, be able to say they are “BoneFit™ Trained,” and appear in BHOF’s online “Find a BoneFit™ Professional” tool.

There is a limited amount of tickets available. If you are unable to register for this event, we will be offering more trainings within 2024 and can place you on the waitlist. Please email education@bonehealthandosteoporosis.org.
