Sarah L. Morgan, MD, MS, RD, FADA, FACP, CCD
Dr. Morgan is the Emeritus Medical Director of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Osteoporosis Prevention and Treatment Clinic and the current director of the UAB Bone Densitometry Service.
Dr Morgan trained in Food and Nutrition and Dietetics and Food and Nutrition and Related Sciences at Iowa State University and completed medical school and an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Iowa. After completing her Clinical Nutrition fellowship and a master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition at the University of Alabama at Birmingham she remained as a faculty member in the Departments of Nutrition Sciences and Medicine. She is a registered/licensed dietitian. She currently is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, the UAB Department of Medicine.
Dr. Morgan’s research interests are in the areas of folate, purine, and methotrexate metabolism during rheumatoid arthritis therapy, medical foods for the treatment of osteoarthritis, and she participates in osteoporosis clinical trials within the UAB Osteoporosis Clinic and also has an interest in DXA and VFA research. Dr. Morgan was the President of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry 2011-2012. The UAB Bone Densitometry service is accredited by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry.
